56101 - Preservation Progress
Working on the air system
17th January 2009. Post by Oli - The first substantial work was carried out on 56101 today. In order to get the loco fit to be towed on Network Rail, the brakeing system had to be made good. Tasks undertaken included the faulty brake cylinder replaced, all brake rigging lubricated, siezed brake pins removed, cleaned and refitted, brakes cylinder stroke adjusted, air system pumped up and leaks attended to. The brake system was tested and a hard days graft paid off well. Photos from GB.
